Every school, including St Mary's, strives to provide the best possible educational experiences within the parameters of government funding. However, these budgets have limitations.
That's where the PTA comes in, raising funds to enhance our children's school life, covering gaps left by official budgets and offering experiences that go beyond the core curriculum.
Our work also ensures our children enjoy the best possible environment in which to learn and play.
The PTA investment in our children is crucial and it has had such a huge impact on the children, the team and the families at St Mary's.
Here are just a few of the projects and items the PTA funds:
PROJECTS
TEACHERS WISHLIST
The PTA funds the Teacher's Wishlist, allocating each teacher £100 petty cash for them to use in any way, to enhance their lessons.
The initiative removes the need for teachers to reach into their own pockets, to enrich their teaching through a variety of resources that bring learning to life.

THE MUSIC ROOM RENNOVATIONS
We’re thrilled to announce the newly renovated music room was opened on the first day of the Autumn 24 term.
Entirely funded by the PTA, this project wouldn't be possible without the incredible talent and dedication of school parents Rebecca and James Lewis. Their hard work and artistic vision have transformed the space into a vibrant and inspiring learning environment.
The room's new design, complete with a kitchenette, is sure to foster both calmness and creativity in our children. We're so excited to see how this space will benefit our students in the years to come.

CLASSROOM EQUIPMENT / EMERGENCY FUND
Working within an allocated government budget, providing the best possible equipment to enhance our children's learning can put a significant strain on the school's finances.
The PTA helps the school avoid having to make sacrifices elsewhere by ensuring we are there to fund classroom essentials that would otherwise need to be allocated from the school budget.
From reading books to a backup fund in case one of the interactive whiteboards goes 'kaput', the PTA ensures our children don't go without and benefit from the best learning environment possible.

CHRISTMAS PANTOMIME
Did you know that every year, the PTA works its magic to bring the fun and excitement of theatre to our school, and this Christmas was no exception.
We were delighted to have West End in Schools return this year with their heartwarming performance of Dick Whittington.
Specially crafted for YrR to Year 6, the pantomime featured captivating storytelling, sing-along-songs, and lots of interactive moments.
As with previous years, it got a big thumbs up for the children!

OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT / LANDSCAPE STRATEGY
Let's face it, our school is located in very special grounds and we are lucky enough to benefit from some beautiful outside spaces.
To make the most of our children's outdoor learning, the PTA helps fund resources like fishing nets for the pond and a wide variety of sports equipment for P.E. lessons.
Following the consultations throughout 2023, this year the PTA is helping to put into action the Landscape Strategy, to further nurture these outdoor experiences for our children and enhance their play and learning in our school's unique environment.
